You should then work on paying off some of the smaller debts that you can find on these reports as a start to build your credit back up to where you need it to be. When it comes to the larger debts, to build credit, you must start paying them off. You can contact each company to come up with a payment plan that you can live with. They may not be happy about it, but it might be all that you can do. If this is something that is just too much for you to do, you can hire a debt consolidation company to help you out in this endeavor. Some will give a loan to pay everything off, and some will work with your creditors to lower payments and even get you a break on the amount owed. This can go a long way when you want to build credit. You should also think about consumer credit counseling when you want to build credit. This will teach you how to manage your money and your debts in a way that keeps your head above water without hurting your credit rating. Once you have done all of those things, making the right choices will help you build credit. Your credit will be much better much more quickly than you thought if you can do all of these things.
